Member Benefits
During this time of reform and upheaval, CNA provides strong professional nursing leadership in the interest of the public by setting standards for education, practice, research and administration, including the development of the nurse registration/licensure examination, and the nursing certification exam. As well, CNA's Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, position statements, Canadian Nurse and infirmière canadienne journals and a growing number of other publications all help to provide quality nursing services for Canadians.
On Parliament Hill, CNA is an energetic national voice, lobbying to influence and change health policy, and ensure a strong public health care system for Canadians. CNA has made sure that politicians know one in 70 voters is a nurse.
CNA also opens global doors. CNA membership includes membership in the International Council of Nurses (ICN). With more than 112 member countries, ICN is a powerful voice for nursing and health internationally. As a committed member, CNA hosted the ICN 21st Quadrennial Congress in Vancouver, BC in 1997.
