Treena Klassen

Treena has been a registered nurse for over 28 years.

She has a Bachelor of Nursing degree, a certificate in Advanced Studies in Mental Health, and a Masters of Education degree. Treena’s grad work was focused around embedding performance assessment and lifelong learning in the nurses’ day-to-day work. Treena recently completed her Doctorate of Business Degree through the University of Liverpool. Treena’s thesis focused on enactment of non-positional nursing leadership.

Treena’s clinical background crossed all boundaries in the field of mental health. She has worked in addictions, acute psychiatry, community mental health, as well as children and family mental health.

Treena worked as a Regional Educator – Mental Health for several years. Her colleagues referred to her scope in this role as being everything that was “not blood and guts”. She provided mental health clinical expertise, provider competency development, as well as human resource, facilitation and communication support to all departments in a health region.

Treena founded a Primary Care Network (PCN) in Alberta in 2006 and currently oversees a company with 65 nursing staff in 43 Health Homes in southeast Alberta.

Treena has volunteered throughout her career serving on various nursing and non-nursing boards.
