My  30 years of diverse nursing experience background includes:

 

  • Maintaining an active clinical practice, across the spectrum of care
  • Providing care across the lifespan with a specialization in aging care
  • Experience in:
    • Leading not for profit boards nationally and internationally
    • Leading a national academic institution
    • Running a private nursing consulting agency / managing operations including finances and human resource issues
    • Advocating for health care and nurses nationally and internationally
    • Actively mentoring existing and next generation nurses
    • Advocating for diversity and inclusion
  • Being proudly CNA certified in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence – WOCC(C) since 2009
  • Believing in building nurse led care teams (RPN/LPN, RN, NP, APNs)
  • A strong education background, specializing in transferring knowledge into practice. As recognized by receiving the CNA Order of Merit for Nursing Education (2016), RNAO Leadership Award in Nursing Education (academic) (2016), World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) Awards for Global Skin Integrity Research and Education (2021, 2022)
  • Being a Nurse Researcher
  • University affiliations with McGill University (Affiliate faculty), Western University (Adjunct Professor), Cardiff University (Honorary Senior Lecturer), and University of Toronto (IIWCC program) (Faculty)

My greatest accomplishment, however, is seeing my daughter graduate with her Bachelor of Science of Nursing from McGill University as a third-generation nurse and seeing her as passionate about nursing as I am, and her grandmother (a retired registered nurse) was.
