Gail M. Lindsay, RN, MScN, PhD

Gail Lindsay’s foundational belief is that “who you are as a person is who you are as a nurse.” Her scholarship with students and nurses develops self-awareness and attentiveness toward others through reflection or reconstruction of who the person is, what she or he knows, and the consequences of actions that transform relationships toward person-centred care, empathy and advocacy. Gail’s mentorship continues through research with nurses, nursing teachers and graduate students and the co-development of an online educational resource about person-centred care using “narrative inquiry” methods (www.theartofexperience.ca). A book, multiple articles, presentations and workshops show how the personhood of the nurse and the social contexts of people matter.
