Tilda Shalof has been a staff nurse at the medical-surgical ICU unit in the Toronto General Hospital for 28 years. In addition to writing five nursing memoirs, she is also the author of A Nurse’s Story, a Canadian bestseller translated into four languages. As an outspoken patient advocate, passionate nurse leader and public speaker, she has charted the educational, intellectual, emotional and spiritual steps in her nursing journey to other nurses, students, doctors and the public in Canada, the U.S., Israel and Qatar. These presentations demonstrate her passion for nursing and her strong advocacy both for the profession and the health-care system. Tilda’s inspirational mural art, constructed from 30 years of discarded hospital plastic, was recently featured in the Toronto Star.
