Since graduating in 1999, Melissa Coulbourne has worked in a variety of settings such as rehabilitation, public health and community health. She currently holds a position with a community health team in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Melissa possesses an excellent work ethic. Not only is she kind and considerate, she acts in the best interest of her clients. Melissa is professional in her practice and provides competent, compassionate and ethical care. She is engaged in her work and has the knowledge, skill and ability to practise safely in her practice setting.
Melissa has also shown leadership in her profession. She was one of the first LPNs in N.L. to be on the school immunization team. In addition, she has mentored colleagues and has been a preceptor to practical nursing students. She reassures students, encourages them to be brave and demonstrates how to immunize with knowledge and skill.
Melissa is also an advocate for the practical nursing profession. She participates on the practice committee of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and assists in developing documents that will help guide LPN practice.
