Jennifer is from a small rural outport community in Newfoundland. She graduated from the General Hospital School of Nursing in 1991with a diploma in nursing; later she completed a post basic certificate in perinatal nursing and successfully completed the CNA Perinatal Nursing certification exam. Jennifer completed a Bachelor’s of Nursing (post RN) through distance education at Athabasca University in 2012. Jennifer moved to Iqaluit in 1996 with a goal to stay one year. Now more than 20 years later, she has her own northern story. Jennifer has worked in a number of nursing positions: direct care as well as leadership positions. Each position has supported her professional and personal growth and has allowed her to make positive changes in her workplace. She now holds the position of Clinical Nurse Educator. Jennifer is currently the president of the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
