Roles of President-Elect and President

The president-elect (two-year term, 2020-2022):

  • Becomes president automatically after the two-year term as president-elect
  • Fulfils the responsibilities of the president if the president is absent and assumes the presidency if for any reason the serving president is unable to complete a full term of office
  • Is a member of the Canadian Nurses Foundation board of directors, if requested by CNA
  • Is chair of the CNA governance and leadership committee
  • Is chair of the CNA finance and audit committee

Role of president (two-year term, 2022-2024)

  • Chairs meetings of the CNA board of directors as well as meetings of members
  • Is one of the two official spokespersons for CNA (the other being the chief executive officer)
  • Is a member of the CNA governance and leadership committee
  • Is a member of the CNA finance and audit committee
  • Is an ex-officio member of all CNA committees
