Introducing Handheld Computers into Home Care. An article that examines the use of new technologies in home care by Bayshore Home Health, which provided tablet computers to 75 home care nurses working in Barrie, Ont.

Education, administration, research and policy

Education. CNA believes that the knowledge, skills and personal attributes that today’s health system demands of its RNs can be gained only through a broad-based bachelor’s nursing program.

The Academy of Canadian Executive Nurses (ACEN). As a network of chief nursing officers of major teaching hospitals and deans and directors of schools of nursing, ACEN represents the voice of nursing leadership in Canada.

Research to Action. These pilot projects in nine provinces and one territory were supported by CNA and partner organizations. The projects helped to implement evidence-based strategies to improve workplaces and increase the retention and recruitment of nurses.

Advocacy. Advocacy means speaking out against inequity and can involve participating directly and indirectly in political processes. Their numbers and their knowledge mean RNs are ideally suited to speak out in support of the health of Canadians.
