Dr. Kimberley Lamarche, CD, RN NP, DNP, is a nurse practitioner (NP), full professor, and dean of the School of Nursing at Cape Breton University. She has a strong belief in professional advocacy and regulation, having previously served on the board for the Canadian Nurses Association (board member), the Canadian Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (president), and the former College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (president).
As a nurse scientist, her research interests include resilience in clinical practice, job satisfaction and role transition, online education methods, mobile technology in practice, resilience in practice, NP-specific clinical outcomes, and pharmaceutical influences for advanced practice nurses. Believing in the impact of global reach, she has contributed to the International Council of Nurses (ICN) advanced practice subgroup in various roles within research, service and committee contributions.
Dr. Lamarche continues her work in professional advocacy, most recently as a member of the ICN’s Global Nursing Leadership Institute and a member delegate for the 77th World Health Assembly. With a firm belief in the scholarship of practice, she maintains a clinical nurse practitioner practice primarily working with marginalized/underrepresented populations. She’s committed to the ongoing work required to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals; she is particularly passionate about ensuring inclusive and quality education for all, promoting lifelong learning, and advocating for the promotion of just, peaceful and inclusive societies.
A White settler of Acadian descent, Dr. Lamarche shares her passion for health care with her paramedic husband and social worker and teenage athlete daughter in beautiful Unama’ki, one of the seven districts of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people, also known as Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
