CNA welcomes Carol Timmings as Strategic Partner Liaison

  

The Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is pleased to announce that Carol Timmings, RN, B.N.Sc., M.Ed., has joined CNA in a part-time role as Strategic Partner Liaison. In this role, Carol will support the executive office and other key portfolios in advancing CNA’s strategic and operational priorities. She will also play a pivotal role in relationship management and the co-creation of a stakeholder engagement strategy to strengthen CNA’s impact across Canada’s health-care landscape.

Carol is a highly experienced nursing leader with an extensive background in public health, health policy, nursing regulation and governance. She is recognized for her collaborative leadership and ability to navigate dynamic and complex health systems at the provincial, national, and international levels. Throughout her career, Carol has been committed to health equity, diversity, and inclusion, and she has consistently built and led high-performing teams to deliver impactful results aligned with public health and safety priorities.

Carol recently retired from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) (2019-2024), where she held multiple senior leadership roles, including Chief Quality Officer, Acting Executive Director and CEO, and Deputy Registrar. Prior to her time at CNO, Carol dedicated two decades to Toronto Public Health (1998-2018), serving in several director roles before transitioning to Chief Nursing Officer (2010-2018) — a position in which she made significant contributions to public health nursing in Canada.

Carol has also served on numerous nursing and health system boards and initiatives, including her recent tenure on the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (2022-2024). She currently serves on the Touchstone Institute board of directors.
